Healthy nutrition and daily physical exercise are also important components of the healthy aging process. Pre-retirement adults and retired, ambulatory seniors seek to stave off the frailty and chronic illnesses too often associated with old age for as long as possible. These clients participate in the many exercise, health and wellness and enrichment classes offered at the Griffin Center to maintain and promote healthy aging. The Sally Griffin Active Living Center at 700 Jewell Avenue in Pacific Grove partners with other nonprofit agencies and members of the community to offer technology training and legal services for seniors, as well as other one-on-one services. These activities help seniors and their families to navigate the formal and informal social service networks available to them through privately funded, independent nonprofits as well as state and federally funded agencies. MOWMP programs also provide information and referral services to individuals and their families. The Griffin Center Produce Market program, a partnership with Episcopal Senior Communities, is particularly important for retirees living on fixed incomes.
