Holy Family Home and Shelter, Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers a 28-bed home and shelter for mothers and children who meet certain criteria. Residents living for an average of 60 to 90 days are offered with 3 meals a day, life skills workshops, case management, laundry services, an educational program for children, assistance with permanent residence and job search, as well as referral to other agencies if necessary. Through case management and workshops, they help their families get the information they need to rebuild their lives. A staff of 13, including social workers, offer support, a safe environment and professional help. People who need help with mental health or addiction issues can get additional support through a joint program between Eastern Connecticut's shelter and Perception Programs, Inc. They can be admitted if they are willing to follow shelter rules, adhere to a curfew, help with daily chores and participate in mandatory case management, including spending plans.
