Assists very low income homeowners to eliminate a housing health or safety hazard of an immediate nature. Provides materials for repairs, recruits and organizes volunteers to assist with repairs, which may include repairing holes in floors, walls, roofs, doors, windows, and constructing safe steps and wheelchair ramps for persons with disabilities. Heating, plumbing, and electrical problems are completed by contractors. After the immediate housing problem is resolved, the homeowner is referred to existing housing rehabilitation programs in the county for more extensive repairs if needed. Homeowner is expected to participate in the resolution of the entire home repair problem, usually by in-kind service. Relies heavily on volunteers and applicant family members in the completion of repairs when possible. Hours Of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am 4:30 pm. Eligibility: Applicant must own home, home must have a housing condition that qualifies as a health or safety hazard of an immediate nature.
