The Westchester County Department of Social Services provides a variety of services to county residents of low income and for families under severe financial pressure from catastrophic illness or family breakup. These services include, medical Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps), Temporary Assistance and Homeless services. To apply for services, call or go to the district office. Emergency Services is a Department of Social Services after-hour, weekend and holiday mandated program responsible for receiving referrals and assessing the need for arranging and providing emergency services to adult individuals, children, and families in crisis situations.
