Open six days a week, the Resource Centre provides daily shelter for the poor and homeless, as well as assistance, wellness, and self-sufficiency programs. Meals operate six days a week, providing breakfast and lunch for over 150 people a day. The distribution of clothing and household items provides clothing, toiletries, and household items to over 2,000 people annually. Appointments are required. Street Survival Services provides showers, phones, mailboxes, and emergency services to people living on the street. Outreach and Advocacy help clients seeking housing, rights, substance abuse, and mental health services, health care, legal assistance, recovery of identification, and specialized programming to overcome the effects of trauma. One of the largest dive centers of the day in the Greater Cleveland area. Services: Offer such as hot meals, showers, mail distribution, assistance with basic necessities to obtain a birth certificate, state ID card, assistance with eyewear, rental, and utility, and the opportunity to socialize by engaging in recreational activities. In addition, the center provides referrals to employment and training programs, health and mental health screenings, Veterans Administration benefits, and assistance in obtaining housing subsidies. Basic Needs Operational Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. depending on the program. Their birth certificate and ID program are open to anyone (non-shelter residents only) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of the week, with a limit of 10 people on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 5 people on Wednesdays. Program hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Individuals must have either the original social security card (no copy), a government document, or a district printout. Basic needs such as rent and utility assistance are based on necessity. Hours of Operation: Tuesdays and Thursdays only, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A bus ticket is also available at these times. Bus passes are available by reservation only. Cosgrove has partnered with Ohio Blindness Prevention as part of the Ohio Blindness Program to provide access to free comprehensive eye care services for high-risk children, medically disadvantaged Ohioans, youth, families, and homeless/insured adults. Walk-in Opening Hours: Tuesday or Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Their Mail Distribution Program is available for people who are homeless. Individuals can sign up and then have their mail delivered to Cosgrove. Registration and Letter pick-up Hours: Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Guests can use their facility to take a shower from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Toiletries, towels, and washcloths are provided, if necessary for the convenience of their guests. Clothing Program: Clothing items and toiletries are distributed to homeless individuals every Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the basement entrance to St. Malachi Church. Clothing and small household goods are distributed to local families in need on the third Saturday of every month. An appointment required. Please call 216-771-3036. The Clothing Ministry can accept clothing donations such as seasonal streetwear/ outerwear clothing, underwear, sweatshirts, shirts, socks, belts, streetwear shoes and seasonal boots, hats and gloves. - Shower Program: Our longest running program, the Shower Program, helps homeless men and women each week. - Free clinic: Each Friday morning Metro Health provides medical services to individuals using the Malachi Center Shower Program. The goal is to treat health care isues before they require emergency room care or hospitalization. The project provides valuable hands on experience in serving vulnerable populations for medical students and residents. - Free Soup Kitchen: Over lunch, men in transition connect with God, each other and their own strength, bi-monthly. - Free Holiday Assistance: Assistance program for families during Thanksgiving and Christmas with food and gifts as available; engagement in service projects as well as holiday activities. - More services: Other services and programs include help with securing birth certificates and Identification cards for school, employment, and housing, a computer lab and access to sewing supplies and lessons. The Moriah House Family Shelter accepts single women and families who are homeless, have resided in substandard living conditions, or are victims of domestic violence. - These families are challenged with issues of economic hardship, physical and emotional trauma, chemical dependency, mental illness, physical illness, lack of education, or lack of employment. All residents meet Ohios guidelines for extremely low or low income levels with over 90% in the extremely low-income category. - Moriah House provides a full range of transitional services that assist residents in moving from homelessness to stable housing and employment through these basic programs: Interim housing provides a safe and nurturing place to live, meals, and all other basic necessities. Case management services enable each resident to work directly with skilled staff to develop her individualized plan for permanent housing, stable income, self-sufficiency, and education/training.
