On September 16, 1966, for the sum of ten dollars, Frank J. Healy, Corporation Commissioner with the State of Oregon, filed the Articles of Incorporation for the Senior Activity Center. The Center was created for the purpose to provide creative fun, fellowship, social, recreational, and educational activities, for all interested older persons in Coos County, with no age limit, and not-for-profit. The initial office of the corporation was 158 West Market Street and the residing agent was Ralph Aldrich. There were three other initial board members, all of whom were also residents of Coos Bay, as follows: Ethel Rood, Clare Wehrle, and Osa Angle (who resided at the Tioga Hotel). Article VII stipulates there will be no political influence, campaigning, or any other activities that are unallowable. On December 19, 1980, an Assignment of Mortgage was signed by the Mayor of the City of Coos Bay, Donald Poage, M.D and W. H. Curtis, Recorder of the City. This document granted to the Senior Activity Center, also now known as Bay Area Senior Activity Center, the property presently in use, located at 886 South 4th Street, Coos Bay, OR 97420...
