The Taylorsville Senior Center is a joint operation of Taylorsville City and Salt Lake County. The facility is owned by Taylorsville City and operated by Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services staff. The site of the Taylorsville Senior Center was originally Plymouth Elementary. The planning for the Senior Center started around 2001 by Taylorsville City Mayor Janice Auger. Construction was completed in August of 2002. The grand opening and ribbon cutting was held September 26. The open house was attended by County Mayor Nancy Workman, City Mayor and Taylorsville City Council members. A group of marines helped with the flag raising and the master of Ceremony was Channel 5 news Bruce Lindsey. During the first month the Senior Center signed up around 1000 new members. After 12 years, a 3500 sq. ft. addition was completed in September 2014. This new space provides more room for exercise classes, expands the exercise equipment room and opens up more space for other classes.
