The Verde Valley Senior Center is a lifeline to hundreds of senior citizens throughout the Verde Valley. The Center provides good, hot, nutritious meals in a congregate setting in their unique dining room and delivers Meals-on-Wheels to the homebound. Other services include social activities, interaction with youth and special events, health and wellness programs, blood pressure checks, Veteran Counseling, grief and loss seminars, AARP free tax aide services for all ages, AARP Drivers Ed, NACOGs Medicare programs and free Notary services for seniors, fall prevention and Matter of Balance seminars, defeating depression, lifting, home safety, emergency preparedness, hearing checks and hearing aid cleaning, healthy living class and a host of other events in support of our local communities and agencies. Lunch Program: A FREE Community Lunch is served Wednesday and Friday at noon. Everyone is welcome to join us. On Sat/Sun. sack lunches are available at Goodwill on Mingus Ave. for those without a residence.; Clothing Boutique: Our beautifully refurbished clothing boutique is available for our clients who are in need of gently used clothing and shoes, as well as hygiene kits which include shampoo, soap, and other toiletries.; (*Upon availability/donations, our clients may receive blankets, pillows, sheets and other household items.) Food Pantry: Guests can receive one food box a week per household. They may choose items based on their personal preferences. Our food pantry is stocked with items such as canned foods, pastas, rice, breakfast items, breads, desserts, frozen foods, meats, poultry, fish and fresh produce.; Food Pantry Hours: Monday & Thursday 9:00am to 2:00pm; (*Contingent upon donations, eggs, yogurt, milk and other items may be available to our clients.) Emergency Food Assistance (TEFAP) Boxes: The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement households with low incomes by providing an additional food resource. The food boxes contain non-perishable items such as canned fruits/vegetables/meats, rice, pastas, beans, cereal and juice. They provide emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. The Old Town Mission facilitates this program. Distributed is the first week of each month during our normal food pantry hours until supplies are gone. Valid ID and address is necessary. A form at the front desk must be signed each month to receive the food box.; Homeless Resources: There are those in our community that are without a residence temporarily due to many different circumstances.
