The SOC Club (pronounced "sock") is located at 107 Furman Street, on the corner of North Ardis and Furman Streets near downtown Oil City. Begun at the request of Mayor Chip Dickey in late 2008, the SOC Club has become an active and integral part of Oil City and the North Caddo Corridor. You must be a Caddo parish resident over 60 years of age to join. The club meets twice weekly (Monday and Friday from 8 AM - 12 Noon), plus at other times for fun and fellowship activities in a warm and home-like environment. Entertainment includes popular card and domino games. Bingo (with prizes) takes place every Monday, and there is a "mock" auction where you can bid on household items on alternate Fridays, using your own "SOC BUCKS". GAME NITE is available to all adults on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, with hot dogs and soft drinks available (February - November). The SOC Club also has an annual Halloween Costume Party, and a Christmas gift exchange where all members get a gift at no cost to them. The Monday and Friday meals are provided by the Caddo Council on Aging. The meals are provided free of charge with a suggested donation of $1.25. The club is a vital part of the Oil City, Caddo Parish Louisiana community. Many SOC Club members are involved in other community organizations and events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Light the Town, National Night Out, Christmas on Caddo and Gusher Days. Funds for the club are raised with a twice yearly Bake Sale coordinated by Christina Allen, a valued SOC volunteer and friend, along with an annual garage sale. The club is fortunate enough to have support from the Rotary Club of Oil City and the North Caddo Medical Center...
