Senior centers provides friendship, enjoyment and new ways to a healthy life. In the early 1980s, the SWMOA Board of Directors made a permanent commitment to help senior organizations acquire local ownership. This would guarantee a future for the senior centers, even if their funding ceased. To fulfill this commitment, SWMOA began encouraging senior corporations to purchase the senior center buildings, with the assurance that they would then rent or lease their building for services. The income from their rent or lease payments has helped older communities to successfully work towards debt-free ownership of their buildings. They currently provide services through 38 senior citizens' centers. Their centers are committed to serving the full spectrum of older people, from healthy, active seniors who want to use a lifetime of skills and experience to make a difference in their community through volunteering, to frail seniors who need help meeting the needs of daily life. Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and they are operated by a SWMOA employee, whose rank is that of Senior Center Administrator. ..
