Our senior nutrition centers provide meals for seniors, fellowship and activities, and transportation as needed. The Older Americans Act was enacted in 1965 and is termed as the "Bill of Rights for Older Americans." The Act directs that special consideration be given to designating or developing multi-purpose senior centers as focal points. Jefferson County's Senior Gardens Program, a part of the Older Americans Act, came into being on March 22, 1972. Services range from ioffered through local senior garden centers.
