The Ansche Chesed Shelter has been operating since at least 1987.
Services:
It opens every night at 7:00 pm on the second floor of the synagogue to offer 10 men with a safe place to eat, bathe, socialize and sleep.
By 6:30 am the next morning, guests leave for their place of work or sponsoring agency to participate in a program to address the issues that caused them to be homeless.
On average, the guest will stay in the hostel for several months before moving on to a more stable life situation, such as SRO, group life or subsidized housing.
