Offers Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP), helps low-income families, with at least one person age 60 and older, when the households are experiencing a home energy emergency.
A domestic energy emergency may result from an outstanding utility bill, a lack of fuel or wood, or the receipt of a notice of disconnection.
Payments for emergency energy-related expenses such as home heating and cooling during the heating (October to March) and cooling (April to September) seasons.
Eligible families will receive one benefit per season, up to a maximum of $600 per season.
Program beneficiaries can receive vouchers to buy blankets, portable heaters and fans.
The program can also assist cover the cost of repairing or reconnecting existing heating or cooling equipment.
Eligibility:
Documented heating or cooling emergency, at least one individual age 60 or older in the home, and a gross family annual income equal to or less than 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
