Washington Parish Council On Aging is a non-profit corporation promoting the overall welfare and independence of persons aged sixty years and above in Washington Parish. The Council provides social services such as homemaker, transportation, home-delivered meals, congregate meals, recreation, and Medicare counseling. Other functions of our agency include coordinating and planning with other organizations and acting as an advocate for seniors.
Over the two months I went there, every table but one was already full, so I was sat at the one table by myself. Each table was its own little clique and did not talk to people at other tables. I never even learned anyone's name because they would not talk to me sitting by myself. The woman running the place said they offered no other programs except the daily lunch ( which you have to sign up for everyday in advance that you intend to go) and offered no other resources for seniors. Literally, the woman running the place told me straight out that there was nothing they could do for me.
