About Oakland Independence Support Center

OISC is a self-help, client run organization in Downtown Oakland which provides a comprehensive network of services and peer support for mentally disabled homeless individuals. Over its eleven-year history, OISC has grown from a community center that provides meals and support groups to a multi-service agency with professional counseling, housing search assistance, job placement services, an adult literacy program, and computer classes.
