The Eagle Point Senior Center began with the planning stage in July 1978 at a meeting in the Loaves and Fishes Annex of the Community Bible Church on Shasta Avenue. The first Board of Officers meeting was on July 27, 1978. Seventy members started the group. The first year $2,000.00 was raised. There were many yard sales, potlucks, and raffles. Enough money was gathered in the first few years to enable the group to purchase the property on Loto Street for approximately $9,000.00. In May 1983 the Board met to review construction plans that were presented at an estimated cost of $113,748.09. The center was completed in March 1986. The current Thrift Store was originally known as the Rainbow Room and sold handcrafted items. The Center was expanded in 2006. Volunteers from the Lions Club did most of the work. Much of the cost was covered by a $10,000.00 donation from the new Wal-Mart Store in Eagle Point.
