The Alle-Kiski Center for Active Adults (formerly New Kensington Senior Center) is part of the Alle-Kiski Valley Senior Citizens Center, Inc., a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.
The Alle-Kiski Senior Activity Centre was founded on May 16, 1975, by the Alcoa Retirees Club, headed by T.J. Miller.
The center is located at 1039 Third Avenue in New Kensington, PA, in the former United Steel Workers building.
They enjoy a large and well-furnished building that is easily accessible just outside the center of New Kensington, PA.
It is with professionally trained staff and volunteers who plan and assist with their variety of programs and activities.
They operate outreach sites in 11 different communities and operate two satellite centers in East Vandergrift (former East Vandergrift Senior Center) and Avonmore (formerly Avonmore Senior Center).
It is their hope that there is continuity for their members and that the continued growth of the Center through their programs and volunteers will continue for future generations.
The Centre is partly funded by the Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging, the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners, Pennsylvania Department of Aging, the U.S. Administration of Aging, local councils, membership of the Centre, and volunteer fundraising projects.
Their facilities comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, which allows easier access for disabled and older people in wheelchairs.
