During extreme heat, cold, or heavy rain, The Salvation Army opens its doors to anyone needing temporary protection from the elements, including citizens that arent homeless but dont have air conditioning or heat in their homes. The Salvation Army dining hall, located inside The Salvation Armys Community Kitchen is opened as a cooling, warming, or drying station when needed. The availability of the weather station is announced by posting weather flags outside the building: BLUE for rain, RED for cooling, WHITE for warming. The flags signal that the station is open to receive clients.
