Family Emergency Shelters:
For homeless people, the family emergency shelter of the housing aid office, along with basic necessities, provides safe and temporary accommodation for families with children and provides assistance and services for families to obtain stable housing.
These services have been social protection for some of the city's most disadvantaged citizens in this difficult economic climate.
This is a 30-bed, nine-room facility and the only haven in the Greater Waterbury area that accepts families (mothers, fathers, and children) as they are.
Rapid Re-Housing Program: If eligible, families living in shelters can apply for funding from a quick re-housing program to facilitate the movement to permanent housing.
This shortens family shelter time and opens shelter rooms available to others who need them.
This Quick Replacement Program differentiates itself by serving as a subcontractor between the State Housing Department of CT and New Opportunities, Inc., as a regional provider of quick re-housing services in the Greater Waterbury area.
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
