The David and Grace Harman Family Home was the boys' home of Pete Harman, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, which he donated to the city for use as a senior recreation center.
The house was originally built in 1918 and renovated in 1989 before Herman turned it over to the city.
Today, the Harman Senior Recreation Center provides community resources and programs for West Valley residents age 60 and older that promote dignity, support independence, encourage community involvement, and stimulate physical, mental, and emotional health.
Seniors living in West Valley City can take advantage of transportation to and from the Herman Senior Recreation Center.
